Each weekend course costs just £190 inc VAT or you can book 2 sessions for £350 saving £30

  • Courses run from 10am – 5pm Saturday and Sunday and are held at Gary’s studio at The Lakeside Centre in Thamesmead, London, SE2 9AN.
  • All tools and materials are provided for the workshop.
  • You are advised to dress in clothes you don’t mind getting a spot of glue on or bring an apron.
  • There is a break for lunch (not provided)

Weekend 1 – Introduction to Mosaic

An enjoyable, fun and sociable weekend course in which you will discover the beautiful art of mosaic with expert mosaic artist Gary Drostle, a professional mosaic artists for over thirty years.

You will learn about the different materials and tools in mosaic art and see examples of the rich and varied great mosaic art in the world – an art form dating back thousands of years.

You will then go on to create your own mosaic using the colourful Vitreous Glass mosaic and PVA glue. Choose your own project or select one of the workshop ones: a bowl, trivet,  door number,  mirror. The course includes all the materials you need to complete your project.

You will learn to cut the glass tiles with wheeled nippers, learn how to set them in a harmonious way and build your mosaic piece by piece. You will also learn the pitfalls and common mistakes to watch out for.

Accessible

The course is fully accessible to wheelchair users including ample parking and disabled toilet.
Mosaic is a very enjoyable craft and is generally open to a wide range of abilities.
NOTE: You do require an ability to use your hands in particular the squeezing action similar to using pliers and reasonable wrist strength.
