De Luci Fish Sculpture
Putting Erith on the Map and creating a new landmark
SInce it's completion in 2006 the De Luci Fish roundabout has become a true local landmark. The giant and brightly coloured sculpture of three entwined fish is just referred to by locals as the Fish Roundabout.
Infact the design was inspired in part by a small mosaic outside the local library which showed the old coat of arms of Erith. With a little more research Gary discovered that the arms belonged originally to the lord De Luci, who was presented the entire are by William the Conqueror shortly afer the Norman invasion in 1066. The arms were based on three Pike fish.
