Gallery mosaics are mosaic artworks which are created and mounted onto moveable supports so that they can be hung like a picture.
Unlike the rest of Gary’s work they are obviously smaller and also usually not linked in design to a particular site. They offer the collector a chance to own a mosaic artwork which they are free to move around, to hang at home or in the workplace in the knowledge that they can be easily moved if necessary.
Gary uses lightweight panels to mount the mosaic onto, these panels can be fitted with hanging systems or frames and can be hung on suitable walls inside or outside.
Commissioned Artworks
Gallery mosaics can be specifically commissioned in the normal way. Examples of typical mosaic commissions would include Coats of Arms and Mosaic Portraits.
Here is a selection of commissioned panel mosaics:-
Red Rocket Memorial Panel Gloucester Glevum The Bharunda Bird La Puerta – Truth is the doorway to reconciliation. Mosaic panel for Cali Central Bus Terminal, created as part of the Cali Street Arts Festival Monkey Table Apollo
Studio Artworks
As well as commissioned mosaics Gary creates mosaics from his own studio practice. These mosaics have often already been entered into public exhibitions so will come with their own provenance. These works are usually part of the artists own exploration of techniques and subjects. Below is a selection of Gallery Mosaics created by Gary.
Man – The Fifth Element. Ozymandias for the 21st Century Shrapnel 1917 – War is a gun with a worker at each end. Mosaic panel Litovi Mosaic abstract panel Mosaic Sketch Portrait Centaur After Rodin Outside the Square Middle Distance
