mosaic maker and mural artist Gary Drostle

Fixed to the walls of the pedestrian underpass at the western entrance to Welling this community mural was designed to brighten up the heavily grafittied area and mark a positive entrance to the town. Gary worked with children from Barrington Primary School, Welling School, the local poetry writers group, 'Wellrites', and the local authorities history archive department to generate images for this lively portrait of the town.

The design incorporates archive photos merged with the children's contemporary views of Welling and the poetry. These designs were then printed onto 20 eight foot by four foot panels which were then mounted in sets of five on the underpass walls.
