A Roman style 'Stag' mosaic forms a focal feature for this garden in Washington DC. Techniques, traditional craftsmanship with modern design 20 years experience Over the course of twenty years Gary has slowly built up a group of related specialist techniques for the realisation of his artistic vision. These specialisations come from his initial interest in the history of architectural art, the Greek, Roman, and Byzantine skills of the fresco and mosaic.
All these techniques are closely related and come together in the designs from Gary's imagination.
Dartford's Industrial Heritage Mural Painted murals Gary began his career as a mural painter, the urge to work out on the street, away from the gallery and in touch with the public, and the desire the create large works that were part of the urban landscape was the motivation born from political activism during his college years. Gary now paints murals using a range of techniques and materials according to the project requirements including: True Buon Fresco; Keim Mineral Paints; Artists Acrylics and using modern digital print and photographic technologies. Mosaic is the ultimate architectural art, the image built from many small components, built into the fabric of the architecture, tough, durable, beautiful and low maintenance. Gary creates mosaic works using marble, stone, glass, ceramic, the beautiful Italian hand made Glass Smalti or even re-cycled materials. This has been a natural development from the creative exploration of the potential of mosaic art and the needs of differing sites. Still in it's early days Gary draws on his college work as a sculptor and a training course in marble carving in Carrara, Italy together with his experience of working with mosaic and cement to create colourful mosaic clad forms.
