This mosaic was designed by Gary to connect the New Leicester Trinity Hospital with the original hospital which is just up the Road. The hospital was founded in 1331 and still contains the great black porridge pot given to the hospital by Elizabeth 1.

As well as being a traditional border for mosaics the two strand guilloche also represents the 'chain of esses' symbol of the house of Lancaster.
