Artists in Schools, developing skills in work to be proud of.

Involving schools has always been a key feature of Gary's work. This has ranged from informative talks, to involving children in designing their own mural, and through to constructing mosaics.

As well as the art and design aspect of a school mural many other skills come into play: maths, for measuring and scale work; communications, for arriving at a design; research, into the chosen theme; environment, and especially how we can improve our own environment - are just a few examples.

Gary's education work also carries into the further and adult education sectors, he has taught art in adult education and has lectured on the Art & Architecture MA at East London University. More recently Gary has been a guest lecturer and teacher at the conferences of the Society of American Mosaic Makers in San Francisco, Chicago, Phoenix and San Diego. Gary has also been a visiting lecturer at The Chicago School of Mosaic Art.

Education work on a much broader scale is also a central feature of Garys work as President of the British Association for Modern Mosaic.
