This classical image of the Greek hero Belleraphon slaying the Chimera was executed in tiny tesserae, each piece measuring just a few millimetres across. The Latin inscription around the rim reads London 2003 and was commissioned to commemorate the opening of the new AIG headquarters in the City of London. The mosaic features rings of blue/green venetian smalti and gold inlay and is set off in a specially made blue/green glass frame.
