This is one of a series of mosaic floor panels produced as part of the award winning pedestrianisation of Gloucester City Centre. There are 11 panels in all running the length of Northgate and Southgate through the city depicting the trades of Gloucester. The trail of mosaic floor panels made in vitreous ceramic reveal the hidden history of trade in the city. Gary came up with these designs following workshops with local schools and much historical research. The children participated further by making the 'tools of the trade' mosaics in the corners of each panel. The street scheme was awarded for its contribution to street design and the exceptional quality of the artworks in Gloucester's’ Pedestrian Priority Scheme.
